The Warning-Light Owner
Engine management light, ABS warning, AdBlue warning, airbag light, glow-plug light, hybrid-system warning - the diagnostic identifies which module set the code, what the actual fault is, and whether the car is safe to drive.
Reserved for the discerning few. You are not most drivers - and you do not weigh three quotes before you call.
Warning light on, intermittent fault, pre-purchase inspection or service-history doubt? We arrive at your home, office or kerbside with manufacturer-grade scan tools, run a multi-system OBD-II diagnostic across engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body and infotainment modules, and email a written report the same day. Standard service from £150; premium-car and EV/hybrid diagnostics with dealer-equivalent tooling from £295.

Most diagnostic problems do not need a £150-an-hour main-dealer slot to identify. They need the right scan tool, plugged into the right module, by someone who can read the fault code in context. The mobile diagnostics service exists for that gap: you have a warning light, an intermittent fault, a pre-purchase question, or a service-history concern, and you need a written diagnostic in your hand today - not in a ten-day workshop queue. The standard service is from £150; the premium-car, EV and hybrid tier - for vehicles requiring dealer-equivalent scan tooling - is from £295.
Every inspection runs across all accessible modules: engine and emissions (DTCs, freeze-frame data, live sensor stream), transmission (shift maps, adaption values), ABS/ESP, airbag/SRS, body control, infotainment, climate, comfort and convenience. We run a freeze-frame at the moment any active code was set, capture relevant live data (coolant temperature, MAF, lambda, fuel-trim, transmission temperature, BMS state), and produce a written report listing every fault, its severity, and the most likely root cause - signed-off and emailed the same working day.
On premium and modern cars, the dealer-grade tooling makes the difference. Generic OBD-II scanners read engine codes only and miss most of what is actually happening on a Bentley, a Range Rover or a Tesla. Our premium-car kit includes the equivalent of BMW ISTA-D, Mercedes XENTRY, VAG ODIS, JLR SDD, Toyota Techstream, Volvo VIDA, Tesla Toolbox-equivalent and Honda HDS-equivalent. That means we can read - and clear - manufacturer-specific codes in modules that a generic scanner cannot even see (active suspension, air suspension, transfer case, infotainment head unit, drive battery on EVs, hybrid inverter modules).
"When you call us about mobile diagnostics, the price you hear on the phone is the price you'll pay. No 'depending on traffic'. No clipboard charge on arrival. No surprise fee for the bit we forgot to mention. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every single call-out."
Warning light, intermittent fault, pre-purchase, service-history check - we'll quote the fixed price up front based on the vehicle and the inspection scope.
Technician arrives at your home, office, the seller's address or a kerbside, plugs in the scan tool, runs a multi-system inspection. Typical inspection takes 45-75 minutes.
Written diagnostic emailed the same working day with all fault codes, freeze-frame data, severity assessment and root-cause analysis. Garage- and insurer-ready format.
Engine management light, ABS warning, AdBlue warning, airbag light, glow-plug light, hybrid-system warning - the diagnostic identifies which module set the code, what the actual fault is, and whether the car is safe to drive.
About to spend £40,000+ on a used car? A written diagnostic at the seller's address before money changes hands catches the issues a test drive cannot - hidden DPF problems, transmission slip, modules with cleared codes, hybrid battery degradation.
Wondering whether the service stamps reflect work that actually happened? A diagnostic captures live adaption values and accumulated fault history that tell the real story of how a car has been maintained.
The cheapest quote on a London recovery is rarely the cheapest job. By the time you've added the surcharge, the ULEZ pass-through and the extra hour in traffic, a fixed price from a local team almost always wins.
- Lead controller, Central London dispatchYou haven't read this far because you're comparing prices. You've read this far because you've already decided that on a vehicle like yours, this is the only sensible call - and the only operator you would trust to make it.
Our customers are the people who do not negotiate the recovery of a £200,000 car the way they do not negotiate the surgeon, the wine, the tailor or the school. They recognise quality on first contact, and they pay for it without performance. The question for them is never "what is your cheapest rate". It is "can you be here, properly equipped, properly insured, in the time I have available" - and they know exactly why they are asking.
Booking us puts you in a clientele of London's prestige owners, City principals, Mayfair dealers, motorsport teams, family offices and private clients whose names we will never repeat. They do not advertise that they use us. They use us because the standard they set for themselves is invisible to anyone who has not already met it.
Book the mobile diagnostics that matches the standard you already set for everything else you choose.
We work every London postcode from EC1 to SE28. Whether you're in the City, Canary Wharf, Camden, or further out in Greenwich or Walthamstow, the call goes to our Central London control room and the closest available driver heads to you straight away.
Things our lead technicians have learned across more than 10,000 London call-outs.
Most independent garages quote a fix based on the symptom (warning light) rather than the cause. A £150 diagnostic in your hand before the quote often saves several hundred pounds in unnecessary parts changes.
On a £40,000+ used car a £150 diagnostic that identifies a £6,000 transmission issue or a £2,000 DPF blockage is the highest-leverage spend in the whole purchase process.
If a previous owner cleared codes the day before you collected the car, they will reappear after 1-2 drive cycles. A diagnostic captures whether codes have been cleared recently and how many drive cycles ago.
A generic OBD-II scanner cannot read the high-voltage battery state on a Tesla, a Prius, a BMW i-series or a Lexus hybrid. The premium-car tier exists for exactly this.
487+ verified Google reviews. A recent sample below, every one from a real London call-out.
Broke down on the A13 heading into the city around 6am. Called these guys, driver Stuart was on scene in 28 minutes flat and had me towed to my mechanic in Bow. Fair price, no nonsense - exactly what I needed at that hour.
My car wouldn't start in the multi-storey car park at Canary Wharf and security wouldn't let any tow truck in. The recovery technician brought a portable jump pack down in person, got me started in five minutes and only charged £80. Lifesaver.
Sprinter went pop on the A406 with a full load of tools on board. Other companies wouldn't touch a loaded van or wanted £400+. These lot quoted me £280 over the phone, picked me up within 40 minutes and dropped both me and my tools home. Top tier.
AGM battery on my BMW 3 Series died overnight. Booked a mobile fitting on the same morning, technician Greg arrived with the correct battery already in the van. Coded it to the car, did an alternator check too. £255 all in.
Needed my 458 moved from Chelsea to a workshop in Surrey on an enclosed flatbed. White-glove service throughout - winched on without a scratch, fully insured paperwork emailed before they left. Pricey but absolutely worth it.
Came back from a long weekend to find my Mini absolutely dead in Hackney NCP. AA wanted to me wait three hours. These guys had me running again in 35 minutes for a fixed £80. No subscription, no hassle.
Bought a project car at BCA Blackbushe - wouldn't start when it came time to drive home. Rang Car Recovery in London, they collected it the same afternoon on a flatbed and dropped it at my unit in East London. Sorted.
Engine cut out at the worst possible moment - Blackwall Tunnel approach, southbound, in rush hour. They got someone to me in 22 minutes which honestly I didn't think was possible. Towed me to a safe location and then home. Fixed price even with the traffic.
Self-employed builder, Luton van died in Stratford on a Saturday morning with a job booked for Monday. They turned up within an hour, recovered the van AND issued me a VAT invoice for the books. Proper professional outfit.
Needed my Porsche Cayman moved from Mayfair to a specialist workshop in Park Royal. Came in an enclosed trailer, used soft straps, sent through the insurance certificate before pickup. The whole experience felt premium from start to finish.
Flat battery outside a meeting in Westminster. Called at 10:15, technician was there by 10:45. Got me on my way for £85 with no membership faff. Will be using these instead of my AA cover from now on.
Had a Bosch S5 AGM fitted to my Audi A4 at home in Camden. Came on a Sunday, no extra charge. Battery has been faultless - and they coded it via the OBD port which my regular garage didn't even know how to do.
Two tiers. Standard mobile diagnostic is from £150 per inspection - covers full multi-system OBD-II read, freeze-frame data, live data review, and a same-day written report. Premium-car / EV / hybrid tier - for Bentley, Range Rover, AMG, Tesla, BMW i-series, hybrid Lexus / Toyota and any vehicle requiring dealer-equivalent tooling - is from £295. Both tiers include the written report, garage- and insurer-ready, no extra charge.
Every accessible module on the vehicle: engine and emissions, transmission, ABS / ESP, airbag / SRS, body control, infotainment, climate, comfort and convenience modules. On premium cars we additionally read active-suspension, air-suspension, transfer-case, drive-battery (on EVs) and hybrid inverter modules. Each module is scanned for stored, pending and permanent fault codes; freeze-frame data is captured at the moment any active code was set.
Yes - this is one of the most common reasons clients book us. We attend at the seller's address, run the diagnostic, and produce the written report on the spot before any money changes hands. The report covers fault history, recently-cleared codes, drive-cycle counts, and any module that has been recently programmed (often a sign of recent repair work).
Yes, on the premium-car / EV tier from £295. We have the dealer-equivalent tooling required to read Tesla high-voltage battery state, BMW i-series drive modules, Audi e-tron / Polestar / Volvo SPA platform and similar. We do not service the high-voltage traction battery itself - that is a manufacturer-only job - but we can read its state of health, accumulated fault codes, and any limp-home limits.
Same working day for any inspection completed before 6pm. Out-of-hours inspections (weekend or evening) report next working day. The PDF is emailed to you in garage- and insurer-ready format with all fault codes, severity assessment and root-cause analysis.
Yes. The report is signed, dated, time-stamped, and includes the vehicle's VIN, mileage, scan-tool fingerprint and full fault-code dump. We have provided diagnostic reports for warranty disputes, insurance claims, dealer-versus-buyer disputes and Small Claims Court matters - the format is accepted as evidence by every UK insurer and motor-trade ombudsman.
Only with your authority and only when appropriate. Codes are normally left in place so a follow-up workshop can verify them. We will clear codes if you specifically request it (for example after a confirmed repair), but we do not clear codes by default - it would defeat the purpose of the diagnostic.
Most issues identified by a diagnostic require workshop time, not roadside repair - that is part of the value of the report. We will list the recommended workshop steps in the report and, if you wish, recover the vehicle to your nominated garage on our standard breakdown recovery rate. The diagnostic fee is never refunded if the fault turns out to need workshop time, because identifying the fault is what you paid for.
Jump-Start from £80. No membership needed. All makes & models
Breakdown Recovery from £120. Up to 8 miles included. No hidden fees
Accident Recovery from £250. Crashed & non-runners loaded by winch. Insurance invoices issued same day
National firms run the same rate card from John o' Groats to Land's End. That works for the average call-out, but London isn't an average city. Bus gates, low-emission zones, height restrictions, road closures for events every other weekend, traffic that shifts by the half-hour - all of it adds up. A generic operator can't quote honestly without padding the price. We built this whole operation around London, on purpose, and you can see it in the small things that matter when you're stranded.
Compare it to AA or RAC's rolling-membership model. You pay £180-£260 a year for cover that may or may not include the situation you're actually in. For most drivers without a fleet, paying as you go from £150 only when you need it works out cheaper over time. The maths is simple: if you break down once every two years, you've spent £400+ on membership fees for a job that would have cost you a single £150 call-out.
